Your future starts here

Meet your people
Some of the best parts of university aren't on your timetable. They're the friendships you make, the spontaneous plans and the moments you'll still be talking about years from now. Living with other students means you're part of a community from day one, making it easier to settle in, build connections and create memories that last long after graduation.

Your questions, answered
What is the difference between a true studio and true apartment at true Sheffield?
The key difference is that studios offer more privacy than apartments. Since your student experience is unique, it’s important to choose a room that suits your lifestyle.
The studios in our Sheffield student accommodation are fully self-contained, giving you your own private space with an en-suite bathroom, a double bed, a study area, and a kitchenette.
If you prefer a mix of privacy and socialising, an apartment might be the perfect fit. You'll still have your own double bed, en-suite, and study area, but you’ll share a fully equipped kitchen and living space with other students - a great way to meet new people!

What are the external works being carried out at true Sheffield?
Facade works - These primarily relate to the final facade works which are purely aesthetics. All fire protection and stopping is fully complete throughout the building and independently certified for safe occupation by Building control. The completion of these works is done using a series of mast climbers which will be in operation during the hours of 8 to 6pm Monday to Friday with Sat 9 to 1pm. These mast climbers will be in operation on the upper floors of the accommodation (above level 10) and whilst may pass windows will not stop at occupied floors. The mast climbers will progressively be removed as the works are completed. All works are expected to bee complete by the end of October 2025.
Access to floors 11 and above including the Sky lounge and terrace will be available from 10th December 2025.
Temporary protective fencing is in place with clearly designated access into the building and for all fire exits for safe egress and escape if required.
A limited number of workers will be using the lift within the main building for access to the restricted higher floors supervised by on site management. There are two other lifts available for resident use only.
Highway works - New kerbs and footpaths works are being completed on behalf of the local authority directly outside of the building. These works may continue until Jan 2026 but will not prevent safe access into and out of the building.
Adjacent construction works - Next door to the building there are separate building works. These involve partial restrictions to the bottom of Hollis Croft Road and pavement of which we have no control over.
Can I view a room?
Of course, our properties are open 24/7 and we always have somebody at the Welcome Hub to greet you. Just click the top right hand corner to arrange a viewing at your favourite true property. Alternatively, you can visit our YouTube page here or get in touch with us via our livechat, phone or contact form to arrange an onsite viewing, or a virtual viewing!
How do I complete my booking?
You can book directly with true using our website. In order for the booking to be confirmed, all required documents must be returned including guarantor agreement, tenancy agreement and provision for your rent payments. A booking will only be confirmed by true once the onboarding process is complete and all the necessary documentation has been supplied.
Can I book with friends?
Yes! You can book with friends and we’ll try our best to position your rooms as close to one another as possible – please let us know after you book online.
What bills do I need to pay when I stay with true?
All utility bills including broadband Wi-Fi and contents insurance for your belongings are all included.
You are responsible for the purchase of a TV license if you intend to watch or record live terrestrial TV programmes or use BBC iPlayer, even if you have been provided with a TV by true Student. For further information, visit www.tvlicensing.co.uk.
When do I need to pay my rent?
Please see our payment dates below:
- All sites for 2026-27 here
Please note: your rent may be due before the contract begins and the dates may not coincide with student loan dates. This should be taken into consideration when planning your accommodation as late payments may be subject to interest charges and, in some cases, legal action against the resident and their guarantor.
Do you have staff at your properties?
true has a team of trained staff on site to respond to your needs. Their job is to make your true experience as enjoyable and safe as possible 24/7.
Our on-site Welcome Hub desks are open 24/7 with a fully trained team member to answer any questions, respond to any issues, offer advice and ensure a friendly face is there to greet you every day and every night.
We also have a highly skilled, in-house maintenance team available around the clock. They’re there to resolve any maintenance issues quickly and efficiently – keeping the site safe and secure.
While most students settle into living away from home quickly, we understand it can take a little longer for some than others. So, while our tenancy agreement limits how far we can get involved, our people are trained in mental health and first aird to offer advice that helps residents to overcome a range of issues.
Do I need to bring any furniture?
All our rooms come complete with high quality furnishings that provide space to store your belongings. Because of fire restrictions, you are not allowed to bring your own furniture or large appliances.
