Can I view a room?

Of course, our properties are open 24/7 and we always have somebody at the Welcome Hub to greet you. Just click the top right hand corner to arrange a viewing at your favourite true property. Alternatively, you can visit our YouTube page here or get in touch with us via our livechat, phone or contact form to arrange an onsite viewing, or a virtual viewing!

Who can be my guarantor?

A guarantor is someone over the age of 18 who takes joint financial responsibility for your tenancy and is liable to pay your rent if you are, for any reason, unable to pay an amount owed to true student. This is standard practice for accommodation, especially for students. You will need to name a guarantor when you make your booking if you select to pay your rent in instalments. This person will need be in full-time employment, a home owner and/or renting accommodation, UK based and sign a guarantor agreement. We will only contact your guarantor if there is a delay in payment or we have concerns over the terms of your tenancy agreement being followed.

Do I need to be a student?

Yes our developments are only for students.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

No, we do not charge deposits. However, to reserve a room you will need to pay a £150 advanced rent payment. This will be taken of your first months rent.

I only have a conditional offer, can I still book?

Yes, you can secure your room for a £150 advanced rent payment and if you don’t get into the University of your choice or decide to go to another city where there is no true accommodation then this will be refunded.

Can I book with friends?

Yes! You can book with friends and we’ll try our best to position your rooms as close to one another as possible – please let us know after you book online.

Do you offer short term lets?

Most of our rooms are occupied throughout the year but we might be able to accommodate your needs. Please contact us to see if we can meet your short-term accommodation needs.

Can I rebook my current room for next academic year?

We love nothing more than to see our true students come back for another year. Year-round, we run many different rebooking offers - so keep your eyes peeled to snap up the best offer! Just ask your Welcome Hub team for any details or jump on LiveChat below to speak with our Sales Consultant.

Can I see who else has booked in my flat?

We have a closed Facebook group set up for each of our true locations – the best place to find the answer to this question is to join as soon as your booking is secured and start socialising with your new housemates!

Do I need a guarantor?

If you would like to pay in instalments, we do require a UK guarantor. If you are unable to provide a UK guarantor, then please get in touch with us via LiveChat below to discuss your options.

How old do I need to be to live at true?

We accept all full time students over the age of 18.

How do I complete onboarding with two bookings?

Please take a look at our video which will help guide you through the neccesary steps to complete the onbording process and confirm your bookings, if you have more than one reservation.

How does my guarantor complete their section of the booking process?

Please take a look at our video which shows you what your guarantor needs to do to complete their section, allowing you to pay your rent in instalments.

Please note, for your guarantor to be approved, they must provide us with valid ID and proof of address in the form of a utility bill dated within the past 3 months.

Will you contact my guarantor directly about my tenancy?

As you are in a tenancy agreement with us, we will use you as the first point of contact and contact you directly. We will only contact your guarantor if there is a delay in payment or we have concerns over the terms of your tenancy agreement being followed. If you have specifically given consent or stated otherwise, we will of course follow your preferences and provide your chosen person with the right information. 

A guide to reserving your room...

Reserving a room at true student couldn't be easier! All you need to do is...

1. Click 'reserve a room' in the top right hand corner.

2. Select your perfect room and the tenancy length.

3. Quickly enter your details.

4. Pay the advanced rent payment, this will be conveniently deducted from your first rental instalment automatically.

5. Confirm your booking!

After this, we will email you directly asking you to easily set up your true student account, complete onboarding and sign your contract online. Easy peasy!

How do I complete my booking?

You can book directly with true using our website. In order for the booking to be confirmed, all required documents must be returned including guarantor agreement, tenancy agreement and provision for your rent payments. A booking will only be confirmed by true once the onboarding process is complete and all the necessary documentation has been supplied.

Can a dual occupant be added to my tenancy?

  • Dual occupants need to be arranged and approved before check in by emailing (hello@truestudent.com). They can not be added on once the tenancy has started. Where possible, all dual occupants need to be arranged at time of booking.
  • Once a dual occupant has been approved, any changes to this needs to be sent for approval before changes to the booking can be made.
  • Dual occupants need to be full-time students and residents for the full tenancy (along with the main tenant). Any exceptions to this need to be arranged and agreed by the team prior to booking.
  • Please note, we cannot accept dual occupants in our Salford or Newcastle locations.
