Meet the team

James

General Manager

Hi, I’m James, the General Manager here at true Student Nottingham. I’ve worked in housing and student accommodation for a number of years and, alongside that, have spent much of my time involved in rugby, developing and supporting people to perform at their best. Those experiences continue to shape how I lead: with high standards, strong teamwork and a genuine focus on people. I care deeply about both my team and our students, because when people feel supported, our whole community benefits. My role is to make sure true Nottingham is more than simply somewhere to live; it should be a place where you feel safe, welcome and able to make the most of your time in one of the UK’s most historic and vibrant cities.

To our students – and to the parents cheering from the sidelines – this is your home ground for the year ahead. Whether you’re settling into a new city, building lifelong friendships or creating memories that will stay with you long after graduation, my team and I are here to help you every step of the way. Welcome to true Student Nottingham. The team and I can’t wait to meet you and help you make this incredible city your home.

Claire

Assistant General Manager

Hi, I’m Claire, Assistant General Manager here at true Student Nottingham. My background is in hospitality, where I’ve spent years creating memorable experiences and delivering excellent customer service. I’ve always loved meeting new people and learning about different cultures, which makes working in such a diverse and vibrant community incredibly rewarding.

For me, one of the best parts of life at true Nottingham is getting to know our students and helping them settle into their new home. Whether you’re arriving from just down the road or from the other side of the world, I want you to feel welcomed, supported and part of our community from day one.

To all our students: my goal is to make sure you feel completely at home here. Whether you have a quick question, a bigger concern or simply fancy a chat, my door is always open. I want your time at true Student to be not only comfortable, but fun, memorable and full of experiences that you’ll carry with you long after your time in Nottingham comes to an end.

Ali

Guest Experience Assistant

Hi, I’m Ali, and I’m one of the Guest Experience Assistants here at true Student Nottingham. Before joining true, my background was mainly in hospitality and retail, but since becoming part of the team, I’ve loved helping to create a genuine and fun environment where students can truly feel at home. I’m naturally chatty and enjoy building real connections with the people around me. As a university student myself, I understand the pressures that come with exams, coursework and balancing student life, so whether you need advice, support or simply someone to listen, I’m always happy to help.

One of my favourite parts of the role is planning and hosting events as part of our trueLife programme. We’re always looking for new ideas and ways to bring our community together, so if there’s something you’d like to see, I’d love to hear from you.
Outside of work, I’m an avid reader—mostly fiction—and I enjoy anything creative and crafty. More recently, I’ve even started dance lessons, which has been a lot of fun.

I can’t wait to meet you all. It’s a pleasure to be part of true Student Nottingham, and I’m looking forward to another fantastic academic year helping to create a home away from home for everyone.

Liam

Guest Experience Assistant

Hey everyone! My name is Liam, and I’m part of the Guest Experience team here at true Student Nottingham. I’m a big nerd at heart, and when I’m not working at the desk, you’ll usually find me hiking, bouldering or keeping active in the gym. I’m also a massive coffee lover, so if you’re looking for the best cafés in Nottingham, be sure to stop by and ask—I’m always happy to share my recommendations.

Moving to university, especially to a new city or country, can be both exciting and challenging, so I’m passionate about helping students feel settled and supported during their time here. Whether you need some local advice, have a question about life at true, or just fancy a chat, I’ll always be happy to help. I can’t wait to meet you all and help make your time at true Student Nottingham as enjoyable and memorable as possible.
