Our team will support you wherever possible, however true student are not
responsible for paying council tax. This is the sole responsibility of the
tenant. At the start of the academic year we are obligated to confirm occupancy details with the council as such they will letter you directly with any council tax queries. It is important that you respond to any communications received from the council within a timely manner to update your details and prevent any escalation.
As a full time student, you should apply for
student council tax exemption. This should prevent inaccurate billing. It is important that you upload proof of your student status via the true student app within 5 days of your contract starting (or as soon as it is received), to allow us to support you where possible.
To count as a full-time student, your course
must:
- Last at least 1 year
- Involve at
least 21 hours of study per week
If you study for a qualification up to A level
and you’re under 20, your course must:
- Last at least
3 months
- Involve at
least 12 hours study per week
