Looking to plan the ultimate student night out in Sheffield? Whether you cave for an early night or you’re a seasoned party-goer, our student accommodation’s guide will help you craft a night that’s fun, budget-friendly, and safe from start to finish.

1. Choose a student club night

The first starting point: pick your night! Check your calendar and choose your vibe. There are tons of options in Sheffield, and you could choose one of these:

Corporation Mondays

Here you can pay whatever you want, with drinks starting from just 60p! Find out more: Corp Mondays

ROAR Wednesdays

Request your favourite songs, sing your heart out to anthems, and meet the mascot of Sheffield University. Read more: The Foundry

West Street Live Sundays-Thursdays

Double spirits are £2.50 on these days at one of the best spots for live music in the city. Visit the website: West Street Live

2. Create a safety plan

Before you dive into the night, make sure that you do a quick safety check that you’ll stick to all night. Being prepared means that you can relax and enjoy your time. This means:

Charge your phone

Always remember to go out with your phone on a full charge, and take a portable charger out with you if you have one just in case your battery runs low.

Arrange how you’ll get home

It’s important that you get back to your student accommodation safely! Sort out how you and your friends will end the night.

Stay with your friends

Stick with your mates and check in with them throughout the night. Before you set off, you could share your location with them in case you lose track.

3. Consider pre-drinks before

Pre-drinks are a good way to save money when you’re out, and it can be really fun to play games with your mates. Read our blog for inspiration: 7 Drinking Game Ideas for Sheffield Students

4. Kick off with an activity

Add something extra to your night out with an activity to get up to. Friendly competition, cocktails, and laughs can be a winning combination. You could choose:

Gameshow Allstars

This unique bar is the first of its kind in the UK! Compete on different minigame versions of your favourite shows, with hosts to take you through each game. See more: Gameshow Allstars

Golf Fang

Ever hit a golf ball through an old aeroplane or a Blockbuster shop? This mini golf site has epic courses, stunning cocktails, and offers student discount! Find out more: Golf Fang Sheffield

The Treehouse

Sheffield’s first board game café has over 800 games to play with your mates, with staff on hand to help you with the rules. There’s craft beer on tap, cocktails, and even milkshakes if you fancy a non-alcoholic treat. Visit the site: The Treehouse

5. Stop off for food

Eating is absolutely not cheating! Fuel up before you hit the dance floor at one of Sheffield’s brilliant eateries. For casual vibes, head to either:

Sheffield Plate

Located in Orchard Square, this food hall hosts street vendors from across the world - and it also has two bars if you’re looking for a tipple with your tea. Find out more: Sheffield Plate

Cambridge Street Collective

If you fancy something a little bigger, this place is Europe’s largest purpose-built food hall. With tons of food items available, there’s something to suit everyone in your group. Learn more: Cambridge Street Collective

6. Have a mid-evening warm up

This is the middle ground where you decide whether you’re going out out or calling it a night. You’re ending the night on a high, or setting the bar for the rest of the evening. We’d recommend:

Bar One

Expect pub quizzes, air hockey, and casual vibes - great for mixing and meeting other students. See more: Bar One

Eccy Road

For a cosy alternative, head to pubs on Ecclesall Road (“Eccy Road”) - the perfect spot for low-key chats before clubbing

7. Tick Spoons off the list

Is it even a night out if you haven’t been to a Wetherspoons? And Sheffield has no shortage of them. For cheap drinks and vibes, head to one of our favourites:

Sheffield Water Works Company

This is everything you’d expect from one of the cooler Spoons - renovated Victorian building, incredible energy. See it for yourself: Sheffield Water Works

The Benjamin Huntsman

If you have time for a double-Spoons event, this is just round the corner from the Water Works branch. Check it out: The Benjamin Huntsman

8. After-hours clubbing

Still got energy? Now’s the time to tick one of your pre-planned student club night hotspots off your list. Of course, you’ll probably also inevitably end up in Popworld at some point too.

9. Find a late-night food stop

It’s late, you’re hungry, and a greasy snack is calling you. Head to the nearest takeaway and grab a pizza slice, shish kebab or burger - we won’t judge. Pro tip: There’s a McDonald’s on the High Street if you fancy some late night nuggets

10. Get back to your accommodation

Sheffield has late-night buses, taxis and ride-share apps to get you home safe and sound. Make sure you’ve saved enough battery and cash for the journey, and share a ride with your friends if you can.

With this guide, you're set for a night that balances the hype with the practical. Stay safe, stay smart, and have fun out there! Our student accommodation is in an ideal location for your night out, being just a six-minute walk away from the iconic West Street bars!!
