Posted 25 Jun 2020

Birmingham is the second biggest city in the UK, which means there is plenty to do and see! It is also home to some of the UK's best universities including University of Birmingham, Birmingham City University and Aston University

Bullring & Grand Central

The Bullring and Grand Central is just a 5-minute walk from true Birmingham which means you have every shop you could possibly need practically on your doorstep, along with many of the best restaurants in town! Also, having the main train station so close makes it easy to travel home or visit friends!

Mailbox

The Mailbox is for those students that fancy a bit of luxury! There are a range of upmarket and designer shops including one of seven Harvey Nichols department stores in the UK. We think the best time to visit the Mailbox is during the evening, the whole area outside by the canal is lit up and there are plenty of restaurants and bars to eat and drink your way through!

Chinatown

Birmingham's vibrant Chinatown is located just opposite true. This makes shopping at Chinese supermarkets, restaurants and getting your bubble tea fix easy! Each year during the celebration of Chinese New Year the whole area becomes alive with lion, dragon, classical fan and umbrella dances and Firecrackers.

Cadbury World

If you're a chocoholic there is no better place to go in Birmingham. At Cadbury World you can find out how the famous chocolate is made, enjoy a chocolatier experience and get your hands on many freebies!

Kitty Cafe

Great news for the cat lovers! Birmingham has a unique Kitty cafe where you can stop for a bite to eat, drink or play with the kitties! The cats are super friendly and are free to roam around the whole cafe.

Bars / Clubs

Birmingham is packed full with all kinds of bars from Island Bar featuring its own Tiki Bar to Aluna that has the very best mixologists in the city. Birmingham isn't short of nightlife, there are plenty of clubs for you to try on students favorite "Broad Street", including Walkabout, Bierkeller, Snobs, Pop World, Pryzm and more!

Restaurants

The restaurant scene is Birmingham couldn't get any better with a range of chain and independent eateries to try. There are also plenty of cuisines to indulge in, including Chaophraya Thai Restaurant which is just meters from true Birmingham.
