We know when you think about university you most likely think of the nights out you’re going to be enjoying. Well not to worry, in Liverpool, you’ll never be short of cool bars and areas to discover whatever night of the week it is. We’ve put together some of the best student nights and bars in Liverpool below to get you off to a great start, but we’re sure you’ll find your own favourites in no time. 

Student Unions

With a student population of around 70,000 in Liverpool, it’s no surprise that the student nights out here are always in full flow. But let us start with the student union bars themselves. 

First up is The Scholars Bar, part of John Moores Student Union, serving up both food and drink and offering sports entertainment, live music from local artists and even open mic nights. 

The best part? Scholars Bar is just one mile from true Liverpool. 

At the Liverpool Guild of Students, the Sphinx & Courtyard offers both food and drinks as part of the University of Liverpool’s student union. You can also enjoy sports matches, use the area to work or run your own quizzes here. 

The Sphinx and Courtyard is just a 15-minute walk from true Liverpool. 

Your Monday to Friday Nights Out

Like any great city, there’s always something every night of the week for students to enjoy, this is our list of best student nights in Liverpool for every night of the week: 

  • Monday: The Raz (Blue Angel) holds student night’s on Monday with a £1.50 entry and selected drinks for £1. There’s always a great setlist and legends such as The Beatles, Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan have all played here in the past. 
  • Tuesday: Juicy at The Peacock is the place to be on Tuesday nights with entry from £1, drinks deals and a range of music from all the Juicy DJs. 
  • Wednesday: LEVEL is the place for students to be on Wednesday nights with just £2.50 getting you a double vodka and mixer. LEVEL covers six rooms over three floors with a music genre to suit everyone’s taste, from R’n’B and house to full cheese. 
  • Thursday: Dirty Antics at Heebie Jeebies is on every Thursday and the perfect start to an early weekend for students. Covering three floors there’s everything from techno to hip hop to indie. 
  • Friday: Medication is packed with students for a mad night every Friday night with DJs playing the best of electronic music. 

Concert Square

We couldn’t talk about the best student nights in Liverpool without talking about Concert Square. A popular choice all-year-round, Concert Square features a covered outdoor area in between Soho and Modo where drinks can be ordered from the surrounding bars, all of which are lively with a great mix of music. McCooleys is also a popular spot in the square, along with Boston Pool Loft, Fusion and Einstein

Mathew Street

Packed with every type of bar you could think of, Mathew Street is full of the best student bars in Liverpool. From dance bars and karaoke to the iconic Cavern Club and live music bars. Whether it’s a Monday afternoon or a Saturday night, you will always find people to enjoy a drink with on Mathew Street. What’s more, stepping down here really is like walking in the shoes of some of your favourite artists, with this being considered the birthplace of The Beatles and also a street where huge artists such as Adele and Oasis have also played.

Popworld

Can you really consider yourself a student if you’ve never been to Popworld? We think not!  It really is a cheap and cheerful night out with classic singalongs and old bangers playing right through to the early hours. Whether you need to let your hair down on a Tuesday night or fancy ending your Saturday night with a good singalong, you won’t be disappointed. On weekends Popworld will be popular among those visiting the city for the weekend such as hen dos and stag dos, as well as students alike. 

What’s more? Popworld is under one mile from true Liverpool accommodation, so you’re never far from your bed at the end of the night. 

Flares

Flares prides itself on the 70s, 80s and 90s classic playlists and great mid-week deals on shots and drinks so you can enjoy yourself whilst sticking to your budget.

Roxy Ball Room

If you’re looking for something a bit different that’s more than just a place to enjoy a drink, Roxy Ball Room is sure to deliver.
